PROGRAMME FOR THE THREE-YEAR PERIOD 2005-2006-2007
In compliance with art. 5 of the Articles of Association of the Inter-Mediterranean Tourism Association, the Assembly will approve the long-term promotional programme and annual working programme.
Below is a summary of the aims, objectives and strategies that will be targeted through the actions and projects hereafter explained.
The Assembly of the Inter-Mediterranean Tourism Association is fully aware of the central role played by the tourism sector in the development of respective economies and societies in the entire Euro-Mediterranean area and of the opportunity for promoting a new tourism culture on an Euro-Mediterranean scale - an invaluable factor for economic and cultural growth that also favours understanding and integration between populations in this area and the rest of the world.
Assembly members are particularly aware of the possibilities for collaborating in the field of tourism investment, hotel supplies, technology and the transfer of know-how, development and promotion of tourist flows, participation in trade fairs and exhibitions, vocational tourism training and, more generally, in the various aspects that contribute to forming the tourism chain.
Particular attention is given to the development of cultural heritage in the Euro-Mediterranean area, such as the mosaic heritage for example, and the promotion of joint initiatives in the field of cultural tourism, including the organisation of specific pilot projects.
The aim is to cooperate in the mutual promotion of the tourism sector, in terms of both the production of goods and the offer of services and facilities.
The aim is also to develop far ranging collaboration for the exchange of information and to guarantee necessary mutual assistance between members in terms of participation in trade fairs, exhibitions, conferences and meetings, as well as to carry out research on international tourist markets and on the rights of countries both within and outside the Mediterranean area with regards to tourism.
Assembly members believe that the Association's activities should be carried out on two levels - across the board for all countries that have at least one representative in the Association and through targeted and widespread activities that can each time involve one or more countries from the above mentioned area, so that over the years the economic links between members and their territory of origin are strengthened.
The Committee feels that the projects suggested and hereby listed meet these requirements:
