Forum on Tourism in the Mediterranean - 7th edition Rimini Exhibition Centre, 25-26-27th November 2007 This is the most important and longest-running project dedicated to creating and developing business relations between Italian entrepreneurs and those from other countries on the Mediterranean operating in the field of tourism. From 25th to 27th November 2007, Rimini will host the seventh edition of the Forum on Tourism in the Mediterranean, an important event organised by Rimini Chamber of Commerce in collaboration with ICE - The Italian Trade Commission, and held at Rimini Exhibition Centre at the same time as the 57th edition of SIA Guest, the International Hotel Equipment Exhibition. This opportunity for Italy and other Mediterranean countries focuses on business meetings that, along with the opening conference, are the most eagerly-awaited part of the Forum. Thousands of meetings have taken place over recent years between Italian and overseas operators. In fact, it is estimated that over 8,000 meetings have taken place involving more than 700 Italian and 380 overseas companies. At total of 50 overseas delegates will take part in this edition of the Forum, meeting around 100 Italian operators in about 600 business meetings. The total number of overseas delegates hosted in the seven editions will thus amount to 430. The seventh edition hosts eight countries from the Mediterranean basin - from Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Libya, Morocco, Syria, Tunisia and Turkey. The delegations will consist of 1 institutional representative and 5 economic operators - a large group that confirms the trend of the previous six editions attended by numerous delegations from Mediterranean countries that were able to hold interesting business meetings with the Italian operators present. The following, in particular, be attend the Forum: El Hadj Fouad, Algeria, Technical-Commercial Manager of the National Tourism Development Agency, Essam Imam Abdelmegeuuid, Egypt, Tourism Development Authority, Tamer Masri, Jordan, Development and Marketing Officer - Authority of the Special Economic Zone of Aqaba, Nouri Fars Aaueida, Libya, General Manager for the Promotion and Development of Tourism Areas with the General Tourism and Crafts Authority, Lahcen Mohamed Nait, Morocco, Information Technologies Manager - Tourism, Crafts and New Technologies, Jihad Abou Zaki, Syria, Ministry of Tourism and Kamel Gaiess, Tunisia, National Tunisian Tourism Board. The programme for the 2007 edition of the Forum includes an important opening conference that will be held at 3.00 p.m. on Sunday 25th November and that will focus on “The Role of Technological Innovation and E-commerce in Tourism”. This is a fundamental issue, given that on-line tourism advertising and bookings represent a formidable technological opportunity for tourism development, as well as being the most popular and productive innovative tools to have emerged in recent decades. The business meetings will be held on Monday 26th November, with both morning and afternoon sessions, during which Italian and overseas operators will be able to meet following a previously drawn up calendar, based on their mutual exigencies. Inter-Mediterranean Tourism Association - Fifth Assembly Meeting The Inter-Mediterranean Tourism Association was founded in Rimini on 29th November 2004 during the fourth edition of the Forum on Tourism in the Mediterranean, based on an idea by the Chamber of Commerce of Rimini. This year, the Assembly Meeting and renewal of the Association ORGANI will take place on Monday 26th November from 10.00 a.m. onwards. The Association is open to public and private sector members - there are currently 22 members in all - and aims to promote large-scale tourism in the Mediterranean basin, as well as economic, commercial and cultural relations in general. The Inter-Mediterranean Association is a concrete means towards favouring not only commercial exchanges, but also the exchange of ideas and projects. An example of this exchange worth recalling is the Mediterranean Mosaics Project, a pilot scheme that led to the publication of some mosaic masterpieces in the area in a book that is the starting point for creating integrated tourism offers.
